-Most basic lighting in film
– Helps to shape and focus on a subject
-Separates them from the background
Hard/Soft lighting
- Hard: Smaller light sources, creates a dramatic effect, creates shadows, less naturalistic
- Soft: Larger light source, bright, very little shadow is created, diffusion and gels also soften light
Practical Lighting: using existing lamps/light sources that are present in a scene
Natural film lighting: Enhancing existing light using reflectors and additional lights
